Challenges are missions that deviate from the standard gameplay rules of Campaign.

There are 13 challenges (19 on PC and more in Redux) that do not require any DLC to play. A list of all bonus DLC challenges can be found here.

No Towers Allowed The Deeper Well The Deeper Well No defenses can be summoned.
Unlikely Allies Foundries and Forges Foundries and Forge A friendly Ogre replaces the Eternia Crystal.
Warping Core Magus Quarters Magus Quarters The core teleports at random intervals during combat.
Raining Goblins Alchemical Laboratory Alchemical Laboratory Goblins fall onto the map, not spawn at the gates.
Wizardry Servants Quarters Servants Quarters Only Dark Elf Mages spawn; all but 1-2 of them are invincible at any given time.
Ogre Crush Castle Armory Castle Armory Only Ogres spawn.
Zippy Terror Hall of Court Hall of Court Only Kobolds spawn.

No defenses can be summoned.

Chicken The Throne Room The Throne Room One player at a time becomes "The Chicken" temporarily.

They die in one hit and cannot jump.

Moving Core Royal Gardens Royal Gardens The core slowly moves around the map.
Death From Above The Ramparts The Ramparts Many Wyverns of varying sizes spawn.
Assault Endless Spires Endless Spires Players must destroy all enemy cores within the time limit.

No defenses can be summoned, and heroes are handicapped.

Treasure Hunt The Summit The Summit Golden enemies drop a token when killed.

Each wave will not end until the player(s) collect enough tokens.

Monster Fest Glitterhelm Caverns Glitterhelm Caverns There are no crystals to defend, but each wave must be completed within its time limit.

Lost Quest Challenges[]

These challenges were added in free CDT content updates. They can be found under "The Lost Quests" tab.

Challenge Map Map Pictures Summary
Pirate Invasion Buccaneer Bay An endless survival challenge.

Yields more mana and pirate accessories the longer players survive. Losing after wave 7 counts as a victory.

Flames of Rebirth Embermount Volcano The young Phoenix must be defeated multiple times during the waves before it regains its "true power."
Temple of Polybius Temple of Water A difficult three-part challenge consisting of an assault, core defense and boss gauntlet.
Crystalline Resurgence: Part 4 Crystalline Dimension (Field 4) Boss monsters spawn on every wave which must be killed to complete each wave.

The Genie King on the last wave is immune to generic/physical damage.

Crystal Escort: Spring Valley Spring Valley Players must escort an Easter Egg Basket back to the castle while defending it against hordes of enemies.

This Eternia Crystal is essentially invincible, until the final wave.

Tomb of Etheria Tomb of Etheria Boss monsters are fought outside the tomb over the first three waves, during which no defenses can be summoned.

Inside the tomb, more enemy pathways to the crystals open as players progress.
