Downloadable Content (DLC) is one way (along with patches) that Trendy Entertainment expands the world of Dungeon Defenders. Content may include new maps, heroes, familiars, weapons, or costumes. Most content must be purchased, though some has been released for free. While patches contain bug fixes and balances necessary to play the original game, downloadable content is not required and may be viewed as optional.
Content Packs

Consoles
In regards to downloadable content being delivered to the consoles, this is the official stance taken by Trendy Entertainment.
Console players... We need to talk. It's about the DLC -- the holiday DLC, the new heroes -- all of them except the Lost Eternia Shards. Brace yourself.
At this moment, there are no plans to bring them to consoles.

Q. Why is the PC-only DLC/features not coming to Console?
A. This is for a variety of technical and business reasons including patch size limitations and patch stacking requirements, as well as the massive restructuring of the current console game that would have to take place, the QA processes necessary to prepare those changes for submission, and the opportunity cost of pursuing other projects.
