The Ethereal Spike Trap is a Huntress/Ranger defense. It skewers a single enemy for high Lightning damage. This trap can 1-shot ogres on Easy/Medium difficulty.

When positioned close together, multiple of these traps will detonate in 1 trigger. Large enemies such as Ogres can therefore be hit multiple times by a single trigger, for massive damage, assuming the target is in range of each individual trap.

On higher difficulties, with higher trap stats this trap is almost completely obsolete when compared with the Proximity Mine Trap. Its primary function will be to position behind defenses where a hero can run to if being pursued by a Dark Elf Warrior, though on Insane, this may still be insufficient to kill it. Against Ogres the damage inflicted by this trap will add very little on top of the damage per second that can be inflicted both by other defenses and by players while being significantly trickier to bring into play.

The attack box of this trap also extends into the air allowing it to also be used as an anti-air defense if needed.

Due to it hitting only one random enemy target for a mediocre amount of lightning damage, this trap is almost never used.

  • Upgrading a hero defense increases its damage by 10% each level, and its health, aura lifespan or trap detonation charge number by 20% each level. (A level 5 defense will deal 50% more damage and have 100% more health than an un-upgraded defense).
  • On the other hand, upgrading a hero defense will mean that it acts as if the Hero has a higher Defense Area of Effect and Defense Attack Rate. A level 1 turret has a bonus of 2 to all stats, while a level 5 turret has a bonus of 36 to all stats.
  • While the hero who summoned the tower is active, damage is increased by 33% (PC).
