Returnia is a five-part series of assault missions through the Quest for the Lost Eternia Shards campaign.
Most pets are functional, however healing pets (ex: Fairy, Desert Goblin) are severely nerfed when playing on Ascension.
Part 1 - Return to Mistymire[]
The first mission in Returnia has minor changes to Part 1 of the original assault mission pack. A stationary Goblin Mech spawns after all crystals are destroyed. Unlike past incarnations, this Goblin Mech (and all of those in the Returnia series) can fire rockets in deadly stacked barrages.
Part 2 - Return to Moraggo[]
The second part and the rest assaults to follow have many Deadly Striker Towers to snipe players almost anywhere on the map. After the crystals are destroyed, a Demon Lord spawns in front of the temple's main entrance. He cannot move around the map, even when flying.
Part 3 - Return to Aquanos[]
The boss fight to conclude Part 3 is a Mega Snowman. His snowballs home in on the target player; this trait carries over to the final part of Returnia.
Part 4 - Return to Sky City[]
Bouncer Blockades with extremely strong knockback open this semi-finale. Goblin Copter fleets hover above each Eternia Crystal to bombard any players that come near. The boss after the cores are destroyed is a Mega Turkey on the Goblin Battlecruiser. It executes its ground pound attack faster than normal; this trait carries over to the final part.
Part 5 - Return to Crystalline Dimension[]
This last mission in Returnia consists of all four fields or planes the legendary heroes were rescued from. The timer freezes when players can warp to the next plane. Fields 1-3 have numerous Deadly Striker Towers placed where they are difficult, if not impossible to destroy without a Plane Gun or other weapon that ignores the range penalty during assaults.
On the first plane, players are tasked to defeat the boss enemies (Goblin Mechs). Two of them are located at formal crystal locations (where the Eternia Crystals are in the original mission).
The second plane has four Mega Turkeys at the formal crystal locations, two Mega Snowmen and two Demon Lords to kill. The men and lords wait for players at each of the outer enemy spawn points.
Instead of defeating boss enemies on the third field, nine "Dark" Eternia Crystals have to be destroyed. Four of them are located at enemy spawn points; each one is covered by a Demon Lord. The other five are at formal crystal locations. Goblin Mechs guard the first level inclines, while a Mega Snowman awaits for players at each of the four mid-level cores. Two Mega Turkeys serve as blockades to the topmost plateau where the final dark core resides.
On the fourth and final plane of the mission, the boss gauntlet arena, players get to choose which of four evil heroes to fight. The mission is completed when the selected foe is defeated. If the Ascension-exclusive secret was solved, Mischief has to be fought too, after the first evil hero is defeated. This incarnation of him is not immune to Proton Charge Blast.

- If Parts 1-4 are cleared in succession on Ascension, participants will receive two (2) Void Crystals when they return to his/her tavern and four if Ruthless Mode was enabled.
Tips[]
- In order to survive the Goblin Mechs' rocket 'waves,' back away from the mech, then guide the rockets into cover or the ground. If you have a Squire weapon to block with, you can resist the rockets instead.
- If you are a Barbarian, Turtle Stance can be used to endure barrages occasionally.
- The mechs are less likely to fire rockets if there is a hero at melee range.
Trivia[]
- Some of these missions were previously released on the Steam Workshop:
- Return to Moraggo was the subject of a community-held event in 2020. In that version, a typical crystal defense followed the assault segment. An invulnerable Genie King persisted from the first Build Phase all the way to the boss battle at the end of the mission.
