As with all weapons and armors, currently the maximum upgrade levels an individual weapon can have is 404 and the maximum upgradeable stat an item can reach is 600 (with armors reaching 840 with the 40% ≥ ultimate armor set bonus). The actual weapon size of both Squire and Monk weapons scales with their attack range, although weapon size is mostly cosmetic for Apprentice and Huntress weapons (however the ability to fire weapons from close range is affected).
Weapon size and knockback is also important for Circular and Joust abilities, since they scale with both.
There are many names for each graphical type of Squire weapon. All have the same functions; melee attack and block, but stats vary. Those stats are the determining factor of the strength of the weapon; and the weapon's individual look is purely cosmetic and irrelevant to its strength.
There are many types of Squire weapons, each sacrificing a certain weapon attribute for another. Some may be suited for certain situations more than others.
For example, the Backstabber currently has the fastest swing speed, but this is a trade-off for its very small range of attack (proportional to weapon size). Such a weapon may be less suitable for generally tackling large groups of strong enemies (due to less enemies being hit per swing) it may prove useful for quickly clearing lanes of large amounts of weak monsters. Fast weapons also are easier to use while webbed.
Likewise, a large-sized Hammer has the highest potential damage per hit, but has the slowest swing speed. Such a weapon may be more suitable for attacking Ogres with Squire or Barbarian special attacks due to their large single attack damage.
Random Drops
These weapons are randomly dropped on some or all maps of the game.
