Let me start up front by saying that this is my first guide so it may be a bit short :)

To Start With...

Now if you are looking for class-specific details then you are sadly in the wrong place, there are many guides out there for that this guide is more for people who have (for example) just bought the game and are now deciding which class to play as, now if that is you then well done you clicked on the right link!

DPS Or Tower build? Or both?

Right if you've been looking at one of the many guides on this wiki you'll know there are generally 3 'character builds' in dungeon defenders, these are: Tower, DPS, and hybrid. Again I won't go into too much detail as I feel that there are numerous other guides here that do that.

The main thing that you've got to think about is this: How do I play the game? Do I sit there and let my towers do all the work, do my towers die every minute so I have to keep running in and fighting those pesky Dark Elf Archers myself or can I rely on my defenses but they occasionly need a bit of help? Now as you have likely guessed these represent the three builds that people use

Now another factor is whether or not your friends have the game: if you have a friend who has indistructable towers then you don't need to do that all over again a hero build would probably be a better option and vice versa.

Right well now you've decided which build you want you need to pick a hero well read on...

Which Hero Should I Play As?

Well if you've just got the demo for the game and you've played as the Apprentice and/or the squire when you buy thr full game the level gets imported, e.g If you have a Lvl 7 squire on the demo called King Richard or something when you buy/play the full game you'll be able to play this game right from the start as a level 7! (which is useful)

Now I am going to go into a little more detail so here we go...

Which Hero For What Role?

Now If you didn't even get that title then let me explain, some heroy es are more suited to doing somethings than others, for example the apprentice tends to be used as a tower build due to the fact his towers can hit hard and fast to enemies that are quite far away ( I personally find a DPS apprentice amazing so experiment a bit or something) On the other hand a huntress is commonly used as a DPS character because she can attack quickly from far away and pack a hell of a punch (again some people like her to be a tower build or 'traptress' so you find out what you want to do by playing the first 2/3 levels with every character)

If you are still stuck then I'll put my personal favourites here:

Apprentice- Tower Build: I know that I said I LOVE a DPS apprentice but this is a begginers guide and it has to be said a tower build is a lot easier to use

Squire- Tower Build: Now I know the squire has a LOT of health and I mean A LOT (can be 6000+) but well, quite frankly his towers can do around 3000-5000 damage once your tower damage is upgraded

Huntress- Hero Build- Look she has a crossbow and since the piercing shot ability has not yet been patched like on PC it can do 2000 damage every 2 seconds ACROSS THE MAP!!!!!!!!

Monk- Hybrid Build- This way you can do two things:

1) Help out your alies towers when they need it (which they will!)

2) Do a bit of damage yourself so that you can kill things yourself

Right So About These Towers...

Now I won't be talking about all the towers and their stats and things, there's already a guide for that:

Alphi's Tower Guide

There you go click that link, I did when I started the game and it helped me a fair bit

Wait There Is A Pet For 1,521,629 Mana And I Only Have 2,751 Mana, NO FAIR!!!

Well that is a problem! but the general guide for getting that amount of money will take time, LOTS of time another thing is that difficulty affects the amount of money you get so well to be sadly honest the amount of money you will want (1,521,629 mana) won't be until level 60-70 so for now as a guide PICK UP AND SELL EVERYTHING ON THE FLOOR that is all

Well for now that is it, If anyone has any suggestions for other sections I could add to the guide the leave them in the comments bit below! (sorry up front about any typo's)
