Treasure Chests, or simply Chests, are essential map objects. They are the primary source of starting mana which is needed in order to summon defenses prior to the first Combat Phase.
A players opens a chest by simply colliding into it with their tangible hero.
Mechanics[]
Chests spawn (and respawn) at start of every wave at fixed locations. Unopened chests are marked on the overlay map, which is displayed by holding down the [Shift] key. Some chests only spawn once, on the first wave, to provide additional mana.
Mana Given[]
The base amount of mana each chest contains depends on the map and mission. The chests on Area 1 maps (The Deeper Well to Alchemical Laboratory) contain 40 mana each, whereas the ones in The Tinkerer's Lab carry 140 mana. On Survival and Pure Strategy, the first-wave chests will contain more mana than usual if the mission was started on a later wave.
Equipment[]
Alongside defeated enemies, all chests that spawn after the first wave have a chance to drop weapons and/or armor. A quality multiplier is applied to the contents, meaning that chests are slightly more likely to drop items with high stats than enemies.
Quirks[]
- A chest despawns a few seconds after it is opened, leaving a valid space to summon towers.
- Future chests that spawn in will NOT push aside the defenses occupying their space.
